45 years, 3,000 miles, and 1 mission for local families

Since 1981, KDKA-TV's Turkey Fund has made an impact in the Pittsburgh area, helping local families in need to have a warm meal at Thanksgiving. For this special 45th anniversary, that impact is going to be seen across the country.

Pittsburgh-based cyclist Jeffrey Koontz, an ultra-endurance specialist, is taking part in one of the most grueling endurance races in cycling, Race Across America (RAAM). On June 16, Jeff will attempt to pedal from Oceanside, California, to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in just 12 short days. His mission: helping families back home by raising money for the KDKA Turkey Fund.

You can help make Jeff's extraordinary efforts worthwhile by donating to the KDKA Turkey Fund now. Follow Jeff's journey on "Pittsburgh Today Live," "Talk Pittsburgh" and KDKA-TV News.

Editor's Note: Jeffrey Koontz is the husband of a KDKA-TV employee.
