Your Used Or Damaged Fur Coats Could Help Animals With Rehabilitation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Center City Philadelphia clothing store is collecting unwanted fur coats to help injured and orphaned wildlife animals.
The program is called "Coats for Cubs".
"So essentially it's about giving furs back to the animals."
Mike Shaffer is the manager of Buffalo Exchange near 17th and Chestnut. He says you can donate real furs now through Earth Day on April 22nd.
"Often times customers find that the furs they have in their clothes are old, or damaged or outdated, so they can be used to aid in animal rehabilitation by providing bedding to orphaned animals or animals that have been injured," he said. "Rehabbers from across the U-S report that furs provide a natural environment for the animals as opposed to towels or blankets."
Since 2006 Buffalo Exchange stores nationwide have collected more than 8,000 used furs which are given to animal rehabilitation organizations .
"They will typically cut them into patches and create bedding for the animals."
