Your Health And The Weather

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — We talk a great deal about different things that can impact our health, both good and bad. But one of the things we don't talk about much is the weather.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, weather kills more than 2,000 Americans each year. They looked between 2006 and 2010 and they found there were over 10,500 deaths.

Now poor and older people living in more urban populations are at the highest risk of weather related death. But certain parts of the country have a great impact as well.

Southern and Western states suffer the most heat related deaths, the Midwest and West have the most deaths from the cold.

As for deaths from floods, storms, and lightning - that occurs in the South.
