Authorities: Fire That Killed 9-Year-Old In Chester County Ruled Accidental

EAST COVENTRY, Pa. (CBS) -- An early morning fire in Chester County has claimed the life of a young boy.

It was around 5:30 a.m., when authorities say a man came home to find his house ablaze, with his 9-year-old son trapped inside.

The incident happened on Buckwalter Road, near Ellis Woods Road in East Coventry township.

Fire officials and police were called to the scene, and tried to rescue the boy, but when they pulled him from the flames, he could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead on scene.

State police say the fire was an accident and started in the kitchen, but they do not yet know what sparked it.
