YMCAs Across The Country Host Program To Help Prevent The 'Summer Slide'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Summer is coming, but did you know that kids are actually less healthy during the summer season?

The American Academy of Pediatrics in conjunction with the YMCA just released a study that claims kids are not only vulnerable to forgetting what they learned in school, but also to weight gain.

The study says parents want help to prevent what's called the "summer slide."

YMCA's across the country are reportedly helping them out with a free event called Healthy Kids Day, which is free to everyone and boasts creative activities for kids to help keep them healthy and happy in the summer.

Healthy Kids Day is taking place at some YMCAs across the country on April 25th, but dates and times vary, so check your local facility for more information.
