Yankee Candle Issues Recall Over Cracking Hazard

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—Yankee Candle has recalled some of their Luminous Collection fragrance candles because the glass jar could break.

The company says when the candles get hot they pose a cracking hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission there have been 16 reports of the glass jar cracking. No injuries have been reported.

The recall is for candles sold nationwide from September 2016 through November 2016 for about $35:

  • Sea Salt & Coral -1535651
  • Blackberry & Sage-1535890
  • Apple Blossom & Melon-1535891
  • Sugarcane & Honey-1535892
  • Pine & Sandalwood-1535893
  • Cinnamon & Cedar-1535894

The item number is printed on the bottom of glass candle jar.

The recalled candles are approximately 4 inches wide by 5 inches high.
