Wright Leads La Salle Over Colgate 57-52

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jerrell Wright scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead La Salle over Colgate 57-52 Saturday in the season opener for both teams.

La Salle held a 42-41 lead with 4:02 remaining before Steve Zack scored twice, sparking an 8-0 run to make it 50-41 with 1:25 to play. Luke Roth scored and Damon Sherman-Newsom hit a 3-pointer to pull Colgate within 50-46, but the Explorers were 7 of 8 from the line to end it.

Wright scored six of his 10 points in the second half. Amar Stukes added 10 points for La Salle.

Ethan Jacobs scored 12 points and three other Colgate players reached double figures.

It was tied twice early in the second half, and Colgate led 30-28 before Khalid Lewis and D.J. Peterson hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give La Salle a 34-30 lead with 14:05 left. The Explorers led the rest of the way.
