"It's supposed to send the message regarding anti-gun violence, but it's just coincidental that it is right across the street," said Chief Inspector Scott Small with the Philadelphia Police Department.

Police say they found a 25-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound on the second floor of her residence.

"She was lying on the floor suffering from one gunshot wound to her head," said Small.

She was pronounced dead shortly after.

"There were other people inside of the building because it is a rooming house. They have been transferred to homicide. They are being interviewed by homicide detectives at this time," said Small.

Police say they are still without a motive in the shooting death but multiple surveillance cameras are equipped to the front of the property.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.
