Police ID Woman Beaten To Death In North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A woman was found beaten to death yesterday afternoon and now police want to speak with her boyfriend.

Philadelphia police are investigating the death of 32-year-old Izesha Gateward.

She was found bleeding inside her 2nd floor apartment on 17th Street, near Cumberland Street in North Philly.

Officers arrived on scene Sunday afternoon around 5 p.m. and found Gateward bleeding from her head and body.

Investigators believe she was involved in an argument with her boyfriend, who they say beat her with a hammer.

Sources say the entire incident stems from an argument over money, less than a hundred dollars.

Originally police thought this may have been connected to a shooting at a Church's Chicken at Broad and Erie, but now authorities are backing away from that,  and saying these two incidents are not connected.

No arrests have been made.
