Woman In Wheelchair Fatally Struck On NJ Highway

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A woman in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a car as she and a friend tried to cross a central New Jersey highway.

Authorities say 57-year-old Andrea D'Agostino, of Lawrence Township was being pushed across business Route 1 in Lawrence by another woman when both were struck shortly before 8 p.m. Friday.

D'Agostino's friend suffered a fractured left hip and pelvis and was being treated at a hospital. The driver of the car, identified only as a 63-year-old man from Morrisville, Pa., was treated at the scene for a minor injury.

No charges have been filed in the accident, which remains under investigation.
