Woman Found Dead In Staples Bathroom In Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman found in the bathroom of a northwest Philadelphia office supply store with nearly a dozen empty cans of an aerosol keyboard cleaner.

Police said managers used a crowbar to get into the bathroom of the Staples store in Chestnut Hill after an employee realized that the woman had been locked in there since about 9:40 p.m. Friday.

Authorities were called shortly after midnight and emergency medical crews pronounced the 36-year-old woman dead.

Police said investigators found 10 empty cans of the keyboard cleaner in the trash and two more cans in the woman's handbag. Officials said the product, which had been stolen off the shelf, has a warning label saying "inhaling contents can be fatal." The police northwest detective division is investigating.
