Woman Found Dead After Germantown Apartment Fire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Authorities are investigating a fire that left a woman dead in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.

The fire reportedly broke out around 9:20 a.m. on West Hansberry Street in Germantown.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they saw heavy smoke pouring from the second floor window of the building.

The fire was placed under control around 9:39 a.m. and a 64-year-old woman was found dead in the bedroom of an apartment shortly thereafter.

Five people were also displaced due to the fire.

It's not yet clear what caused the blaze.
