Woman Dead After Driver Strikes Deer, Then Pole In Roxborough

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A woman is dead after a car crash in Roxborough involving a deer.

It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday near Hagys Mill and Campanile Roads.

Police say a driver struck a deer, then lost control of the car and slammed into a utility pole, which fell onto the vehicle, cutting it in half.

Authorities say a 22-year-old female passenger was ejected from the car. She was rushed to Einstein Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
