Woman Badly Burnt During Philadelphia Apartment Fire

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Officials say a woman suffered burns to over 60-percent of her body during an overnight fire inside a Philadelphia apartment.

This happened around 1 a.m. at a high rise on the 6100 block of Morris Street in Germantown.

Officials say crews arrived to find the heavy fire on the 8th floor and the 64-year-old victim was inside. She was taken to Temple Hospital in stable condition, with burns to her head, neck, torso and arms.

The fire was placed under control in about 45 minutes.

Most residents are now allowed back inside their apartments, with the exception of the units directly surrounding the apartment that caught fire.

There's no word yet what started the blaze.
