PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for a man who broke into an apartment yesterday morning and sexually assaulted the woman at knifepoint.

The police department's Special Victims Unit says the 21-year-old victim heard a noise a little after 4am yesterday in her apartment, in the 3400 block of Spring Garden Street, in Powelton Village, on the edge of the Drexel University campus.

As she walked into the living room, investigators say, she spotted a man holding a meat cleaver that he had taken from her kitchen.

According to authorities, the man then proceeded to sexually assault the victim, then left the apartment.

The victim told investigators it was too dark in the apartment to get a good look at her attacker, but gave police a general description of his height and race.
