Woman Assaulted With Tire Iron After Dispute Over Wawa Parking Space, Police Say

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) – A woman was attacked with a tire iron after an argument over a parking space at an Upper Darby Wawa convenience store, authorities say. The assault happened last week at the Wawa on 69th Street.

Police say an argument over a parking spot led Aretha Robinson following another woman into the store where she struck the victim with the tool.
Surveillance video shows Robinson after the alleged attack holding the tire iron.
"Obviously she had a very low boiling point to almost kill somebody and hit them in the head with a tire iron, give me a break, over a parking spot," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
In the half-hour CBS3 spent outside the Wawa, the parking lot was jam packed.

Residents who frequently shop at the Wawa location say parking is really bad.
"Bad, really bad. You can get in a lot of fights in this parking lot," John McErlean said.
At one point, a woman parked her car in the middle of the lot, and there was also a small fender-bender.
However, customers were disturbed after hearing about the tire iron attack.
"It's about how you handle it, how you go about things, not taking frustrations out on other people, it's not worth it," Lonnie Presley said.
Robinson was taken into custody and charged with assault.
The victim suffered a contusion.
