Wintry Mix of Snow, Freezing Rain Possible Sunday, Monday

By Meteorologist Lauren Casey

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--We're starting off the weekend with wintry temperatures and will end the weekend with some wintry precipitation, as a storm system set to approach the Delaware Valley on Sunday could yield a mix of rain, snow and freezing rain.

Areas of most impact will be the Poconos and the Lehigh Valley where there is the potential of freezing rain overnight Sunday with some ice accumulation possible--this could yield hazardous travel conditions into Monday morning.

Only minor snowfall accumulations expected with Sunday's system with an inch or two possible in the higher elevations though a period of rain and snow mix and/or light snow will be possible as far south as Center City on Sunday--the best chance to encounter Philly flakes, at this point, looks to be Sunday evening.

Please stay with CBS3 and CBSPhilly.com for the latest on this evolving forecast as Sunday nears. Stay warm!
