Winter Weather Impacts Philadelphia's Trash Pick-Up Schedule

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The cold temperatures and icy streets are taking their toll on sanitation crews in Philadelphia.

As KYW's Justin Udo reports trash pick-up has fallen behind schedule.

Keith Warren with the Sanitation Department says the winter weather has put trash pick-up about a day behind schedule.

"It's making driveways inaccessible for trash collection and we're having a lot of equipment issues due to the cold weather," said Warren.

Warren says the cold isn't letting trash collectors work at their regular pace.

"We're asking everybody to be patient and bear with us. We will get around to you as soon as we can."

Warren is asking that everybody still puts their trash out at the regular time.

"Some areas will be collected on time. Some of the more weather challenged areas will be running a little bit behind."
