Winners Of Storytellers Contest Share Their Tales In Old City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Winners of the "Once Upon A Nation Future Storytellers Contest" took to the storytelling benches in Old City this weekend.
Nine-year-old Reagan Gaukler was one of dozens of child storytellers who entered this year's "Once Upon A Nation Future Storytellers Contest".
Her mom Monte says they heard about the contest in June while visiting Philadelphia from North Dakota, and in July, Monte says they learned Reagan was one of the 12 winners.
"And we thought oh my gosh what are we going to do and then we thought well, let's make a fabulous family trip out of it!" says Monte.
Reagan wrote a story about her favorite historical figure.
"It said why Betsy Ross was important to me and why she was important to the nation." says Reagan.
Monte says Reagan has a keen interest in American history, and her mom says it shows when you walk into this preteen's room at home.
"She has all the documents on her wall!" says Monte. "She has the constitution on her wall, she has the Emancipation Proclamation on her wall, she has the declaration of independence on her wall next to Taylor Swift and like a dog."
