PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Get ready for the wind. Get ready for the cold. Then, get ready for some more snow.

As snow and rain showers begin to pull away from much of the Delaware Valley, drier conditions will prevail later today. By the time you head out for lunch, however, blustery northwest winds will begin to howl. Sustained winds will be as high as 20-25 mph, with guts in excess of 40 mph. Expect some sunshine by later today, and skies to fully clear tonight. Unfortunately, temperatures will really begin to plummet.

Winds will continue to gust overnight and into Saturday. By tomorrow morning, wind chill values will be face-numbingly low. We're talking negative single digits, teens, and even some 20s up in the Poconos! If you have to be outside during these hours, bodily protection against these conditions will be imperative. Winds will gradually die down by later Saturday, but temperatures won't be much better, in the low to mid 20s.

Sunday will be balmy in comparison, a steamy 35 degrees. Unfortunately, snow will be approaching late in the day and will potentially dump several inches Sunday night into Monday. A tricky track as most storms are, we believe this storm has a much smaller chance to be a repeat of the system from earlier this week. It is becoming increasingly likely that parts of the region will get moderate amounts of snow. Monday morning is going to be a slow, messy commute. Don't be surprised to see school delays and/or cancellations. Once the storm departs later Monday, the region will fall into another polar plunge by Monday night.

The Eyewitness Weather Team will keep you updated on the upcoming snowstorm during the rest of today and throughout the weekend.
