Wildwood, NJ Tops 'Destinations on the Rise' Web List

WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- A popular travel web site says  a familiar destination for many in our area is the nation's #1 "Destination on the Rise."

Trip Advisor says that among US vacation spots, Wildwood, NJ has generated the greatest increase in positive reviews in the past year.

The boardwalk, the beach, and doo-wop motels aside, John Siciliano, executive director for the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, can't put his finger on exactly why there was more positive online feedback.

But he'll take it.

"The greatest increase in the United States has been our destination?  I think that that goes beyond just a marketing campaign.  I think that goes beyond just a recovery from the storm.  I think that speaks directly to the experience that people had when they were here," he tells KYW Newsradio.

Siciliano says the Tourism Authority will be watching web site hits, vacation guide requests, and ultimately tourism tax revenue to see how this web award may translate into more business.
