Widener University To Inaugurate School's First Female President

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Celebrations begin Tuesday for this week's inauguration of a new president at Widener University in Chester, Delaware County.

Fifty-six-year-old Dr. Julie Wollman grew up in Philadelphia and is excited to be back in the area -- now as the first female president of Widener University, which opened its doors as the Bullock School for Boys in 1821. Wollman says it's encouraging for the female students and workers to finally have a woman in charge and hopes to help the university grow beyond its borders.

"I would like Widener to be so well-known for all of the outstanding things we do that we have a national reputation," she said, "and we are the university of first choice."

Dr. Wollman's inauguration as the Widener University's 10th president is Friday afternoon.
