White Supremacist Guilty Of Slashing Prison Guard's Throat

SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) — A white supremacist imprisoned for killing a county jail cellmate three years ago has now been convicted of slashing the throat of a Hispanic corrections officer at a state prison.

Twenty-four-year-old William Amos Carter claimed he was just defending himself from racial prejudice by non-white inmates and guards at the State Correctional Institution-Coal Township. Carter, who represented himself, says he'll appeal Thursday's verdict in Northumberland County.

A jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Cramer used a razor-like weapon to slice the neck of Correctional Officer Francisco Charriez on Aug. 31, 2014. Cramer had claimed the guard didn't help him and even instigated abuse by non-white inmates.

Cramer is already serving a life sentence at the state prison in Mahanoy for the Cambria County jail murder. A sentencing date for Thursday's conviction hasn't been set.
