Which Philadelphia Mayoral Candidate Most Effectively Uses Social Media?

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Social media can be a real time soundtrack for for campaigns, but whose online efforts to garner support are the most effective?

All six of the democratic candidates are on Twitter but some are more active than others.

Jim Kenney is the only candidate with a verified account and the most followers by far with over 6,800. Many who began following him during his Twitter-active years as a member of City Council.

The closest candidate to him is Doug Oliver with close to 1,500 followers. Oliver is followed by Diaz, Williams and Abraham who are within 200 or so followers of each other.

Milton Street is at the bottom of the pact with only 41 followers.

Kenny seems to have changed his stance on the platform. He tweeted this past week, "Twitter is Twitter. It's not the State of the Union. It's twitter. It's 140 characters of nonsense. #PHL2015"

You can follow the race on Twitter using the hashtags #NextMayorPHL and #PHL2015.
