What's Cooking on 1060: A Mexican Diner, Seafood Deliveries, and More!

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) --   Crow and the Pitcher, at 267 South 19th Street, just off Rittenhouse Square, opens next week.  It features a "cheese cave" and "new American food," but owner Alex Capasso, who worked under famed Philadelphia chef Georges Perrier, is admittedly French-influenced.

"He's really given us a lot of support, more than we could ever hope for," Capasso (top photo) tells What's Cooking.  "As a matter of fact, as an opening gift he gave us a Christofle cheese cart from Le Bec Fin."

Also opening next week (April 14th) is Cafe Ynez, at 2025 Washington Avenue.   Owner Jill Weber (below) describes it as a "Mexican diner."

"The executive chef is from Mexico City, and he is making all sorts of samitas, which is a specific type of Mexican sandwich on sesame bread," Weber explains.  "Enchilatas.  We're doing rotisserie chicken for take-out, for dinners.  We're doing breakfast, coffee, pastries, et cetera, but all with a Mexican theme."

And Janet Anastasi Stechman (below), vice president of Anastasi Seafood Inc., says the Italian Market-staple restaurant is now offering catering and fresh fish deliveries.

"The people that have moved into Philadelphia are a lot of young professionals," Stechman says, "so we have the chance now to help the young professionals and the caregivers bring our foods right to their door.  And it's a new service that we believe is needed."
