Deadly West Philadelphia Shooting Is City's First Homicide Of 2018

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The first murder in 2018 for Philadelphia happened over the weekend, and it's a record, of sorts for the city.

The city went a full five days into the New Year without a homicide for the first time since 2007.

The streak was broken Saturday night when a 30-year-old man was shot in the head and chest, while sitting in a black dodge neon, while stopped a red light.

A 26-year-old woman was also shot, in the left side of the chest and twice in the left arm, and remains in critical condition.

The incident happened just after 6 p.m. on West Girard Ave, near Merion Ave, in West Philadelphia.

No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to investigate.
