Wegmans Recalling About 1,000 Pounds Of Chicken

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A New York-based grocery store chain is recalling more than 1,000 pounds of chicken.

A federal inspector found during a review that Wegmans altered its production schedule and produced chicken products outside the approved hours of operation. Chicken products produced on Sunday were never inspected.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday night that it issued a Class 1 recall, classified as a situation that has "a reasonable probability" that consuming the product will result in serious, adverse health consequences or death.

There haven't yet been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions from the chicken.

The chicken was shipped to distribution and retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The grocery store chain, based in Rochester, is offering full refunds for eligible products.
