PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Okay, so maybe it is Hobbit-forming.

The sequel, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, made it two weekends in a row on top by nailing another first-place finish at the box office, this time earning an estimated $41-million.

The runner-up was director Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, the new World War II drama, which earned $32-million.

Close behind was Into the Woods, the movie version of the Stephen Sondheim Broadway musical, debuting in third place over the holiday weekend with a total of $31-million.

The holdover, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, was fourth with $ 21-million, while the musical remake, Annie, was fifth with $ 17-million.

Another new remake, The Gambler, the Mark Wahlberg starrer, took in $9-million, good for seventh.

Meanwhile, the controversial comedy, The Interview, in limited release, earned just under $2-million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly ahead of those of a year ago.
