Weekend Box Office Report: 'Jurassic World' Tops 'Inside Out'
By Bill Wine
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jurassic World and Inside Out finished one-two at the box office for a third straight time on this holiday weekend, but it couldn't have been much closer.
The Jurassic Park blockbuster sequel earned an estimated $31-million, while the cerebral animated comedy, Inside Out, took in $30-million.
Two new attractions, both sequels, landed the next two spots.
Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL, both opening on Wednesday, finished third and fourth, with the Arnold Schwarzenegger thriller totaling $29-million and the Channing Tatum comedy earning $12-million.
Rounding out the top five was yet another sequel, the holdover comedy, Ted 2, with $11-million.
Overall, on this sequel-dominated weekend, industry-wide totals were slightly ahead of those of a year ago.
