Weekend Box Office Report: 'Goosebumps' Goes Straight To The Top

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Goosebumps has bumped The Martian back down to earth.

Goosebumps, the horror comedy with Jack Black, knocked The Martian, the sci-fi drama hit with Matt Damon, from its first-place perch over the last two weeks by earning an estimated $23-million on its debut weekend.

The Martian also did brisk business yet again, taking in another $21-million to bring its cumulative total over the $140-million mark.

Director Steven Spielberg's new Cold War docudrama, Bridge of Spies, with Tom Hanks, was third with $15-million.

And director Guillermo del Toro's gothic horror melodrama, Crimson Peak, debuted in fourth place with $13-million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were slightly ahead of those of last weekend, but slightly below those of a year ago.
