Weekend Box Office Report: 'Deadpool' Remains On Top
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Deadpool knocked 'em dead again.
The comic book-inspired thriller starring Ryan Reynolds blasted its way to another commanding first-place finish, earning an estimated $55-million on its second weekend of release, pushing its cumulative total over the $200-million mark.
The animated holdover, Kung Fu Panda 3, was the runner-up, with a modest $13-million, while the weekend's three new additions did manage to place among the top ten:
The Biblical drama, Risen, was third with $12-million.
The period horror thriller, The Witch earned $9-million, good for fourth.
And the Jesse Owens biodrama, Race, took in $7-million, good for sixth place.
Overall, industry-wide totals were well below those of last weekend, but ahead of those of a year ago.
