Weekend Box Office Report: 'Boo! A Madea Halloween' Continues To Be A Treat

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tyler Perry's comedy, Boo! A Madea Halloween, made it two weekends in a row at the top by finishing first at the box office over Halloween weekend, earning an estimated $17-million.

The runner-up spot went to the second Da Vinci Code sequel, Inferno, the Tom Hanks starrer from novelist Dan Brown and director Ron Howard, which took in a disappointing $15-million, well below the performance of its two predecessors.

The rest of the top five were holdovers:

The Tom Cruise sequel, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, was third with $10 -million.

Fourth, with $9-million, was the action thriller, The Accountant.

And the horror sequel, Ouija: Origin of Evil, was fifth with $7-million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were well below those of last weekend, but slightly above those of last year's Halloween weekend.
