Weekend Box Office Report: 'American Sniper' Hits Target Again

By Bill Wine

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Oscar-nominated American Sniper hit its target for a second weekend in a row, earning an estimated $64-million and remaining in first place at the box office.

A distant second place belonged to the new Jennifer Lopez suspense drama, The Boy Next Door, which took in $15-million on its weekend debut.

Holdovers Paddington and The Imitation Game were third and fourth with $12-million and $7-million, respectively.

And rounding out the top five was the debuting Johnny Depp comedy, Mortdecai, with a total of $4-million.

Industry-wide, box office totals were slightly lower than those on the counterpart weekend last year.
