Week 16: Eagles Studs And Duds
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's already time to talk free-agency and NFL draft in Philadelphia, unfortunately.
The Eagles' season -- for all intents and purposes -- ended on Saturday following their 38-24 loss to the NFC East Champion (gross) Washington Redskins.
Here are the Eagles' studs and duds from the game.
Duds
3. Jason Peters
We're seeing the end of Jason Peters as we know it. Peters, who turns 34 in about three weeks, looks like toast. He's often getting beat on the edge and consistently leaving games due to injury. It's bad. And the Eagles will save $6.3 million dollars on their cap figure next season if they release Peters, which seems likely.
2. The linebackers
The linebackers have the most disappointing unit all season long. Kiko Alonso, Mychal Kendricks, and DeMeco Ryans specificially have underwhelmed from day one. On Saturday, Pro Football Focus gave those three players -- Alonso (-4.2), Kendricks (-2.8) and Ryans (-2.8) -- negative grades.
1. The pass catchers
Disgusting performance, disgusting season. The Eagles lead the NFL in drops and added nine to their total on Saturday, including a Nelson Agholor end zone drop that was incomprehensible. Agholor has just 21 catches on the season.
Josh Huff dropped a would-have-been first down on a slant, Zach Ertz had at least one egregious drop (plus an inexcusable fumble), and Riley Cooper dropped a beautifully thrown deep ball down the sideline, erasing a potential 40-yard gain.
Studs
3. Sam Bradford
It's hard to analyze a quarterback that must deal with horrendous wide receiver play and pedestrian o-line play, but Bradford continues to throw the ball despite the ineptitude surrounding him. He was 37-56 for 380 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INT's on Saturday. PFF gave him a (+3.0) grade.
2. Lane Johnson
Johnson earned PFF's highest grade among Eagles' players at (+3.6). He was called for a suspicious illegal formation penalty (that he disagreed with), but other than that, Johnson had a solid game.
1. Fletcher Cox
Who else? The only consistently dominate Eagles' player all season long. 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, and 3 QB hits.
