Wednesday's Child: Michael

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Michael is a huge basketball fan, but you won't see him supporting the sport's big names.

"I don't like LeBron, because he's corny," he says.

This 13-year-old says he appreciates hard work in the face of adversity.

"It doesn't matter, I'll always vote for the underdog. Because everybody votes for the top dog -- like LeBron and the Heat, so I think I should vote for the underdog and be different," Michael says.

He says there's a lot to learn from the little guy. And his social worker, Pearl Knox, says Michael's sports philosophy is reflected in his life.

"He's not a follower and I think that's why he loves the underdogs," she says. "Where -- people who are picked on -- he gravitates to, because he's caring and he doesn't like to see anyone upset or hurt."

For more information about adopting Michael or any other child, go to the National Adoption Center's  web site, www.adopt.org, or call 215-735-9988.
