Wednesday's Child: Jannean

By Larry Kane

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- At 15, Jannean has a sense of extraordinary responsibility. She wants to go into the military and is already part of ROTC.

"Well, I wanted to be in the military since I was, like, 11," she says.  "That was my biggest inspiration to make it to high school: that I could be in ROTC.  Right now I'm an E-5, which is a petty officer, second class."

She still has a while to go before she decides between her top two choices -- the Army or the Marines -- but she says they all inspire her.

"They're like celebrities to me.  When I see them, I always want to ask them for their autograph. I'm so tempted!"

Plus, she's a history buff, with a particular interest in World War II.

Gloria Hochman, of the National Adoption Center, based in Philadelphia, says Jannean is very goal-oriented.

"She cares very deeply about others, she enjoys helping other people, and she wants a family that would be loving and caring and supportive of her," Hochman tells Wednesday's Child.
