Website Aims To Ease Traffic Woes During DNC

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - PennDOT has launched a website hoping to help drivers maneuver through Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention.

The website lets users see information about real-time traffic conditions on highways throughout the region during the DNC July 25th through the 28th.

The site also lists street closures around the convention venue at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.

"It's meant as a one stop travel advisory for people in the Philadelphia region if they're traveling either to or from the convention," says PennDOT's Rich Kirkpatrick, "or if they are just traveling in the area and they want to see where the traffic problems are."

He says while accessing this site, users need to put safety first:

"We ask that you don't be looking at this while you're driving. Please, we don't want distracted driving, but if you have a passenger, they can check the device in the car so you can see where the traffic is developing."

The site is accessible from both desktop and mobile devices.
