Weather: Sunny Wednesday, Christmas Spoilers

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Rain is long gone, clouds are thinning...could it be?!

Yes, much of the Delaware Valley can expect to see some sunshine on Wednesday. As an added bonus, temperatures will be mild as well. The only nuisance will be the wind, as a brisk westerly breeze will be picking up as the day goes on.

The sunshine sticks around for the remainder of the work week, but you can kiss those nice temperatures goodbye. Lows Wednesday night fall back to near freezing, and only rebound into the lower 40s through the weekend.

We continue to monitor the coastal situation for the weekend. Saturday remains cloudy, and Sunday's chance of rain/snow should hold, although any precipitation looks to be on the lighter side.

FOR WHITE CHRISTMAS LOVERS ONLY

(seriously, if you want the Christmas weather to be a surprise, stop reading now!)

Looking well ahead to Christmas next week, an interesting scenario is unfolding. Despite being very far out, several models have been in stark agreement on a storm system impacting the northeast on....wait for it....Christmas Eve!

It is unusual to see them so similar so far in advance. So it looks as though the devil will be in the details, as they say. The type of precipitation is becoming more and more the main focus.

The current situation would call for rain and wind, with any mixed precipitation and snow further inland. Sounds eerily similar to this year's Thanksgiving Eve storm, doesn't it? As for the actual holiday, Christmas Day and beyond look to be in the clear. So although we may be catching a break this weekend, next week may not be so kind!

Remember - this is still a week away. This is meant to keep readers informed, not spark panic and cause unnecessary alarm. The Eyewitness Weather Team will be hard at work following this developing situation, so keep calm, be merry, and stay tuned to CBS3 for all the latest!
