Mostly sunny, crisp fall weather in the Philadelphia region Saturday, perfect for Eagles game
The nice and crisp feel of fall weather will continue through the weekend and into the first part of next week around the Philadelphia region. High pressure centered to our west will keep our flow out of the north, which will hold temperatures in the upper 50s to right around 60 degrees Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
A little upper-level energy passing overhead will help produce a few extra clouds through the afternoon hours, but conditions will remain dry both Saturday and Sunday.
Low temperatures will also be a little on the cooler side, but certainly seasonable for this time of the year. Saturday morning was the coolest of the season so far in Philadelphia with a low temperature of 44 degrees.
It'll be similar night again Saturday night with temperatures in the urban corridor dropping into the low-middle 40s with mid-upper 30s likely away from the city.
The forecast for the Eagles game Sunday at 1 p.m. looks ideal for late October, with just a mix of sun and clouds through the game. Temperatures Sunday morning will warm through the 40s and then climb into the 50s for tailgating before holding right around 60 degrees through most of the game.
Next week there is a possibility that a new low may spin up along the coast, producing the chance for a few days of wet weather and bringing a chilly onshore flow.
This would mainly be Wednesday-Thursday, but we will continue to watch the trend through the weekend. Right now it looks like with even the chance of rain through mid-week, it may clear out just in time for Halloween next Friday.
In the tropics we continue to closely monitor tropical storm Melissa as the storm is expected to strengthen to a major hurricane within the next few days, becoming a Category 4 storm by Sunday.
In addition, the storm is expected just to crawl generally south of Jamaica, which means the small island nation may be catastrophically impacted with wind damage, storm surge and flooding rain — as much as 20-30 inches, as well as deadly storm surge.
At this point Melissa looks to not be a U.S impacting storm though some of that moisture might try to impact the east coast system that could brew next week.
