Chilly weather Wednesday in Philadelphia area, but it'll warm up for the start of spring. Here's the forecast.

Chilly Wednesday weather before Philadelphia area warms up for start of spring

Cold weather is the story Wednesday in the Philadelphia region after many areas started the morning in the 20s with wind chills in the teens.

We will struggle to hit the 40-degree mark thanks to morning clouds, which have put a stop to the warming.

Sun will re-emerge later on Wednesday, which will help — and it's not as windy as Tuesday, but still nearly 15 degrees below average. All this to say, you still need those winter coats.

NEXT big weather change

Things are warming up starting Thursday, with temperatures jumping about 10 degrees and staying dry. A weak front Thursday will bring increased clouds, but overall it keeps getting milder into Friday and Saturday with a couple more chances of rain.

The spring season officially begins on Friday morning with the vernal equinox at 10:46 a.m.

The best chance our region has to get rain looks to be overnight Friday into Saturday morning, but it should clear out and warm up Saturday afternoon with highs climbing into the low 60s.

By Sunday, it'll feel pretty warm — close to 70 degrees for a lot of the area, before another front brings showers Sunday night. Then it cools back down Monday, and by Tuesday it turns colder again with the return of below-normal temps.

Here's your 7-day forecast:
