Weather: Heat Wave Continues

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a weekend of two more 90° readings, we have now recorded six straight days in our current heat wave. We will go for the 7th today with a warm southwest flow and mostly sunny skies, we expect to easily get there.

A cold front will move through tonight and into early Tuesday morning, so expect a shower or thunderstorm if you plan on burning the midnight oil. Even still, one last 90° day is expected before "cooler" air comes our way by midweek. It may seem like quite the long stretch, but this heat wave doesn't even come close to cracking the top three in Philadelphia, which had stretches of 17, 13 and 12, respectively.

Wednesday will be sunny and less humid with highs in the upper 80s. We will be tracking a disturbance that will approach the Delaware Valley by Thursday, which could potentially make for a soggy end of the week.
