Weather: Cloudy, Still Warm Today

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Today won't be nearly as nice as the previous two, but it will still be warm for November.

There is widespread dense fog around this morning, and even a few sprinkles. Once the fog lifts, we'll be left with mainly cloudy skies for the rest of the day. Highs will top out in the low 70s today, a day after skyrocketing to 80°. Yes, you read that correctly. Highs were anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees above average. This was the first time Philadelphia has seen an 80 degree reading since 1993, which was also the year of yesterday's daily record (81°).

It was only the seventh November in recorded history in which November had recorded an 80° temperature. And we may not be done just yet!

Although temperatures will be cooler on Thursday, lower 70s are certainly nothing to scoff at for November, they will rise again on Friday. This is very dependent on the sun breaking through the clouds, which we expect it to do by midday. This should allow for some significant warming during the afternoon, before the sun begins to set. There is a good chance of breaking the record of 79° should the skies cooperate, and the possibility of another 80° day certainly exists. Clouds will then increase again, with a line of showers moving through Friday evening. This cold front will move offshore, but take it's time doing so. Because of this, clouds will linger on Saturday, especially down at the shore. High pressure will then force the issue and clear things out for Sunday.

Daytime highs will also begin to fall back to normal over the weekend, only reaching the lower 60s Saturday and then falling further into the upper 50s for Sunday.
