WEATHER BLOG: Winter Reminds Us It's Not Spring Yet

By Carol Erickson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One last day of the delicious taste of spring before a bitter taste of winter returns this week.

Temperatures in the 50's have stretched our legs and shrunk our snowpack. Tonight, as a cold front moves through the area, temperatures drop into the low 30's, accompanied by a winter reinforcing chance of a rain or snow shower. Any accumulation would be less than an inch in most areas, and many spots not even picking up that much.

By Monday everything wet departs, the sun returns, the winds pick up and we're back to what has become same old, same old. Temperatures reach the 30's and feel colder.

By Tuesday night, what is currently pegged to be a coastal storm will be working its way off the coast. That could send some snow showers our way by early Wednesday morning. The amounts will depend on the track of the low, if it doesn't head completely out to sea, which is just about everyone's preferred direction for it.

Much colder air is the definite in the forecast, with lows dropping to 10 degrees by Wednesday night.
