WEATHER BLOG: Summer-Like Weather Continues Mother's Day

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A warm and humid air mass arrived in the Delaware valley on Saturday with highs temperatures surging into the low to mid 80s, more than 10 degrees above average.  The humid air mass with an approaching cold front helped trigger some showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon.  There were reports of winds gusting to 60 mph and some small hail in some storms.

The threat for some showers will come to an end around midnight, as the cold front moves through.

The summer-like feel remains in the forecast for the rest of the weekend into early next week.  Mothers Day will have plenty of sunshine with warm highs in the low 80s and lower humidity.  Pleasant conditions will be in place for Mother's Day Race for the Cure with temperatures in the 60s.

Southerly winds will then increase humidity levels on Monday & Tuesday with warmer high temperatures in the mid 80s.

If you are not ready for the summer weather just yet, wait until Wednesday when a cooler temperatures return.  Expect clouds and the chance for showers for the second half of next week with highs in the 70s.
