WEATHER BLOG: Pleasant Finish To The Weekend

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- It was a warm start to the weekend with high temperatures reaching the low 70s on Saturday.

A cold front brought showers and some thunderstorms to parts of the Delaware Valley.  Behind the front, a stronger Northwest wind will bring in a cooler air mass into the region for Sunday and Monday.  Expect sunshine both days with highs slightly below average in the mid 60s.

Enjoy the sunshine on Sunday and Monday because a blocking weather pattern will develop this week.  This will allow for a very slow-moving storm system to impact the region for the middle of the week.

Expect cloudy, dreary and cool conditions for the middle of the week.  Showers will begin to arrive on Tuesday with much cooler highs in the low to mid 50s.

Periods of rain will continue on Wednesday with highs again in the 50s.  The threat from some more showers will continue on Thursday but some peaks of sun are possible, allowing for highs to reach near 70.

The slow-moving upper level low pressure system will pass through the region next weekend, keeping clouds and a slight chance for a shower in the forecast.
