WEATHER BLOG: Brief Snow, Then Milder Temps

By Justin Drabick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Highs will be in the low 30s, about 10-15 degrees below average, on Presidents' Day.

With the cold air in place, a weak storm system will move through early Tuesday morning bringing a round of snow. This is not a large system and will not have much moisture, but it will occur during the morning commute.

Timing:
Expect the snow to arrive between 2-4 a.m. Tuesday and end by mid-late morning. Skies will begin to clear in the afternoon with highs reaching the low 40s.

Amounts:
Snow amounts will be on the light side of around 1-2" for Philadelphia and less than an inch for South NJ, the Shore, and central Delaware. Some 3" areas are possible, especially in the Lehigh valley and Poconos.

A pattern change will then be underway for the second half of the week with a warm front moving through on Thursday. Expect high temperatures to return at or above average in the 40s and 50s from Wednesday through the weekend. There will be the threat of rain on Friday and again at some point over the weekend, as a few storm systems move through.
