WEATHER BLOG: Almost Perfect Weather Coming Back Down To Earth

By Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - What a beautiful Memorial Day it was!

I hope you got a ton of time out in the sunshine this long holiday weekend, whether it was at the beach, the pool, or just hanging at home with the family! Our high on Memorial Day reached 87 degrees - a full ten degrees above average and only nine degrees from a very old record (96, set in 1880).

Another warm and steamy day is on deck. Tuesday's high will reach 85, possibly even higher in some areas that see more sunshine. But the summer warmth is living on borrowed time, as a cold front will move through Tuesday afternoon and evening with a few scattered showers or thunderstorms. Some of these could produce heavy rainfall.

Then, the dreaded east wind picks up for Wednesday and Thursday, keeping things rather cloudy, cool and unsettled - highs will struggle to make it into the 70's and we'll have the chance for a shower each day.

A far cry from near 90 with sunshine!
