Weather: A Warmer Weekend, With An Eye On Next Winter System

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Friday will be a quiet, but cold day to end the week. It's a 'warm-up-your-car' kind of morning, indeed. Temperature readings have been largely in the single digits during the daybreak hours. Things will get a little better this afternoon, but not by much.

Conversely, the weekend will feel much nicer. Highs in the 40s are expected both days, under variably cloudy skies.

A new system will approach on Sunday evening, in the form of light rain.

Heading into Monday morning, some of that rain may mix in with sleet, and eventually snow by Monday evening. By the time the colder conditions finally set in, we expect this system to be wrapping up. The most likely to places to see any accumulation will be north of Philadelphia. It looks like the Delaware Valley may indeed be dodging another winter bullet!
