Weather: A Soggy Tuesday

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The rain began pouring while many of us were still snoring, and has now enveloped much of the Delaware Valley. Areas along the coast in southern New Jersey and Delaware are currently seeing the heaviest rain. Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs can expect a general .5"-1" today, but those areas south and east will see higher totals.

The rain will be on and off all day, with perhaps a slight break by midday before another heavier swath towards the evening. Needless to say, both the AM and PM commutes will be west and slow, so take it easy out on the roads. It will be a breezy day as well, especially along the coast. Winds of 10 to 15 mph out of the NE will occasionally gust as high as 25-30 MPH. In short, Tuesday is not going to be the nicest of days to be outside.

Skies will partially clear on Veteran's day before showers return on Thursday. Temperatures will be slightly above average during this period, in the low to mid 60s.
