We Asked These People About The Worst Christmas Gift They've Ever Gotten

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  By now, all of your Christmas shopping is likely done. But have you ever been on the receiving end of a really strange, or just plain bad, Christmas gift?

CBS 3's Rahel Solomon went out and asked people that very question at Reading Terminal.

"Oh my god. The strangest thing i've ever gotten for christmas? Hmm..." Vince Luciani, of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, said.

For many the answer wasn't easily found while for others, it just wasn't so black and white.

"Well this is actually from my Grandma because I had a couple of ugly Christmas sweater parties," Russell Mapes, of Blue Bell, told Eyewitness News.

Rahel: Does grandma know that was an ugly sweater?
Mapes: She's here right now. I wore it for her, it's a family tradition. This is a good gift.
Rahel: Alright, this a good gift. What's the worst gift you've gotten?
Mapes: Aww you're going to get me in trouble now.

We did find one man who could clearly give us an answer.

Fruit cake, and apparently quite a few over the years.

"Ugh. There's nothing about it that I like. The cake sounds great but the fruit in it, ugh... my goodness," Dave Cotton, of Ambler, said.

While many people were truly stumped by the question what we truly discovered is that what one man may hate, another could truly love.

"The craziest gift I ever got for Christmas- and I ask for it every year- is a homemade fruit cake from the boss' wife and i love it," Dave Kalinowski, who's visiting from Maine, admitted.

So on this unseasonably warm Christmas Eve, some here say the holiday spirit is alive and well because it's not about the gift, it's the gesture and the person behind it.
